Palmetto Battery History

Since its incarnation, The Battery has been in a constant state of evolution. It began as a Salute Gun detail in 1958 and eventually became the Salute Gun Battery in 1961. Finally, it was reinstated as Palmetto Battery in 1995. The Battery has a long history of excellence, winning Summerall Cup from 1999 to 2006 in recognition of the highest company GPA in the Corps and the Milton A. Pearlstine award from 1999 to 2006 for the highest knob GPA. Further, we have always maintained the highest standards for military training, winning Kelly Cup for the past two years, Regimental Commander's Cup in 2006, and President's Cup in 2007. As the cadet leadership, we will continue this legacy of excellence. There is no more qualified cadre within the Corps of Cadets and we will help to build a reputation for the Regimental Support Battalion as the most professional and capable division of the SCCC. While other Battalions are known as "the tool shed", "the zoo", "third world", or "the demilitarized zone," we will be known simply as "the elite."
